Environmental Mitigation and Sustainability on the Gordie Howe International Bridge project
The Upper Peninsula Geological Repository (UPGR) holds drill core samples with specialized tools to bring intact samples up to the surface. The UPGR is a rock library. These are used to study mineral resources, water quality issues, research on climate change, identifying geological hazards, and supporting research of unconventional energy sources. The UPGR is ran by the Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), Oil, gas, and Minerals Division.
